Puppies and Kittens. Tanaka x Reader

‘Tanaka, stop making those weird faces, you’re scaring the poor puppies.’ You say with a giggle as you go up to the cage where some fluffy golden retriever puppies are rolling around with each other.

‘But they’re so cute, I can’t help it.’ He says, the expression never leaving his face.

‘That’s the face you make when you think something is cute? I would’ve never guessed.’ You reply as you tap on the glass lightly to get the attention of the puppies. They then come dashing over to you to look at you through the glass, their cute puppy eyes begging you to take them home. You giggle at the wiggling mess of puppies when your boyfriend decides to come next to you and get a closer look at the puppies, his ‘I think these are so cute’ look still on his face. This action causes all the puppies to scurry away to the other side of the cage in fear because of his crazy looking eyes. All except one.

One lone little puppy stays pressed against the glass next to the two of you, looking up at you with loving eyes that practically begged you to take it home. And that’s when you knew this little guy was the puppy for you.

‘Tanaka, can we get this one plllleeeeaaassseee!’ You beg him, pulling on his jacket slightly ‘Look at him, he’s the only one who is not afraid of your weird faces so he’d be perfect!’

‘Let’s see if he can withstand this.’ He says, pulling out his ‘intimidation’ face. Tanaka glares at the puppy for a few moments, but throughout the whole ordeal it just sits there happily wagging its tail, its tongue hanging out. Soon enough Tanaka gives up, and lets out a sigh. ‘Alright fine. It looks like he would make the perfect puppy for us.’

And with that you jump up in excitement and rush off to find an employee to get your new puppy for you as Tanaka just sits there making faces at it. You come back, dragging an employee and point out the puppy you want and the employee quickly goes to retrieve it, glad to be out of your strong grasp. Once you have the puppy in your arms, You, Tanaka and the puppy head around the store, picking up all the necessary supplies to raise a puppy. You quickly find everything and then head to sign the adoption forms and pay for your items. Soon enough, the three of you are walking down the street to head home.

‘So Tanaka, what should we name the little guy?’ You ask, giggling as the wiggling puppy in your arms licks your face.

‘How about chomper?’ He asks, mimicking sharp teeth.

‘Hmmm I don’t think so, he’s too sweet for that.’ You reply, patting the little dog on the head.

‘How about furball?’ He asks next.

‘No way. I am not calling my dog that.’ You say sharply. ‘Oh I know. Why don’t we call him Spiker because that’s what you play in volleyball, and we can call him Spike for short?’

‘That sounds alright to me. I think he likes it too.’ He replies, smiling at the sight of the puppy once again licking your face affectionately.

‘Alright then. Spiker, welcome to the family.’
